Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
At GavelBook.com ("GavelBook," "we," "us," or "our"), we respect your privacy and collect as little personal information as we can. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use our website.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Your ZIP code, which you enter to get an estimate. Your browser remembers it on your device so you don't have to retype it (see our Cookie Policy). We do not store the ZIP code you use for an estimate.
- Your answers to estimate questions (for example, whether you have children or the approximate value of an estate). These are used to calculate your estimate and are not stored with any information that identifies you. We keep only a count of which services people estimate.
- Pricing requests. When you request pricing for a service that doesn't have estimates yet, we store the service you requested, the date, and the ZIP code if you provide it.
- Your email address, only if you choose to give it when requesting pricing. We use it only to tell you when pricing for that service is available. We don't sell it, share it, or use it for anything else.
Information collected automatically
- Security information. To protect the site from automated abuse, our server converts your IP address into a one-way code and uses that code to count how often estimates are requested. We do not store your IP address itself. Counting records are deleted after two days, and security logs after 90 days.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages and services they use. Google Analytics collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and referring websites. We send Google only the name of the service you explore. We never send your answers, ZIP code, or email address. See Section 3.
- Human verification. If our system sees unusually heavy use from a connection, it may show a Cloudflare Turnstile check to confirm you're a person. Cloudflare processes information about that check under its own privacy policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To calculate and show your estimate
- To decide which new services to add, based on pricing requests
- To email you when pricing you requested becomes available, if you gave us your email address
- To understand how the website is used and improve it
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and automated misuse of our services
- To comply with legal obligations
3. Service Providers
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We use these service providers to run the website:
- HostGator hosts the website and its database.
- Google Analytics provides visitor statistics. You can learn how Google uses this information at How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Cloudflare Turnstile provides the human verification check, when it's shown.
- Google Fonts provides the website's typeface.
We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or government regulation, or to protect our rights, property, or safety or that of our users or others. If GavelBook is ever merged, acquired, or sold, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
Pricing requests are kept as long as they help us plan new services. Email addresses are kept until we notify you, or until you ask us to delete them. Security records are deleted on the schedule described in Section 1.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To ask us to delete an email address you gave us, or to exercise any other right, contact us using the information below.
7. Children's Privacy
Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child, we will delete it.
8. Third-Party Links
Our website may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised. Your continued use of our services after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact Us
